WISCONSIN - Residents in the DeForest Area School District will be able to follow more closely the dealings of the Board of Education thanks to an online board management tool implemented this week.

BoardDocs will enable residents to access meeting agendas and minutes complete with background information, related documents, and board policies at the touch of a mouse. The user-friendly interface will also allow for searches of information across multiple meetings

The school board signed off on the switch to BoardDocs from BoardBook at its Aug. 22 meeting and received a walkthrough of the program on Sept. 26.

While public documents were always available upon request to the district, the implementation of the new program makes district business the most accessible it’s been to date.

“I think our school board's decision to use BoardDocs is another opportunity to engage our community,” superintendent Eric Runez said. “BoardDocs has a number of features that makes it very user friendly, but its online accessibility and its general ease of navigating the board agendas will support better engagement opportunities and transparency with our stakeholders.”

Runez said that once the program is fully implemented it will make it easier to follow meetings, search archived agenda items, and better understand the board’s governance policies.

“Overall, it promotes the board's linkages with the community it serves,” Runez added.

BoardDocs can be accessed through the ‘Board Meeting’ tab on the homepage of the district website. A hyperlink on the bottom of the page will bring users straight to the BoardDocs webpage.
