We are pleased to announce that BoardDocs will soon be updated with some exciting enhancements that will significantly improve the user experience while modernizing the look and feel of the user interface. General release of these updates will occur on September 23rd, 2017. However, please note that we will be postponing this release for all subscribers whose BoardDocs instances are connected to organizations using BoardDocs to facilitate transmission of policy updates. We will announce the secondary release date in the near future.
This page contains some important information about the update, including a video that introduces the most significant changes, a training webinar schedule, and an overview of the enhancements that you can expect to receive once your BoardDocs instance has been updated. To prepare for the update, please watch the video below, and then review the additional information contained on this page. Description of Enhancements
The update will provide simplified access to important documents, enhanced search and navigation, and an improved user experience on hand held devices. Some of the key features of the update are listed below.
- Freshened look and feel and improved layout
- Enhanced Featured page providing quick access to featured meetings and documents
- Filters that govern document list display on the Featured page
- Access to My Agenda Items content from the Featured page for submitters and approvers using the Pro service
- Improved global and META Search, with results displayed on individual tiles to enhance the hand held and touch screen device experience
- Improved access to committee meeting categories for Plus users
- Enlarged icons to improve the touch screen experience
- Interface features called “hamburgers” that provide quick access to menus and options
Header and Governing Body Menus
The header menu, which contains options for changing your password, logging out, accessing BoardDocs Help, accessing option settings (publishers only), and navigating to the public view (publishers only) has been relocated to the dark gray header across the top of the BoardDocs screen.
Similarly, the Governing Bodies menu where you can access committee meetings if you are using the LT Plus or Pro Plus services, has also been relocated to the header area for easier access.
The Featured Panel has been substantially redesigned to provide quicker access to important featured items, including meetings, policies, library documents (Pro only), events (Pro only), goals (Pro only), and draft or submitted items awaiting approval (Pro only). Information is now displayed on individual cards, organized by type.
A menu can be used to filter the list of displayed items. For example, when viewing policies you can filter the list to display all policies, or limit the list to active or draft policies only.
The Meetings panel remains functionally unchanged, except for the inclusion of larger icons and buttons to facilitate use on devices with smaller screens.
The process for viewing agenda content is unchanged. Viewers can simply select an item from the agenda navigation area on the left side of the screen, and then view the item's associated content and attachments from the panel on the right.
Adding Items and Categories
Publishers will now add items and categories from a menu that displays when clicking on the hamburger near the top of the agenda item list. The printing and collapse agenda functions are also found in the menu.
When editing items, publishers will notice that the same content fields are available for entering content and uploading files as before. Larger, more accessible buttons replace the Save and Close icons found in the previous interface.
The Policies Panel is essentially unchanged.
Library Panel (Pro)
Similarly, there are no changes to the Library panel.
Searching has been significantly improved. It is no longer necessary to press a Search button or the Enter key to initiate your searches. After entering desired search terms in the field near the top of the page, results will automatically display on the page. Documents that are included in the search results appear on individual tiles for easier identification and improved access on devices with smaller screens.
After clicking on a result, the selected document appears in a pop-up window with buttons that allow you to either navigate to the document or close the window. The white arrow to the left of the tiles closes the Search panel.
The BoardDocs Manager, which is only accessible to certain types of publishers, is unchanged at this time except for some updates to the color scheme.
Meeting Control Panel
For Pro users, the Meeting Control Panel, Scoreboard, and voting features are also unchanged at this time.
