Coming Out of the Stone Ages
The Kern Community College District (KCCD) spent well over $50,000 annually putting together 90 board packets annually before subscribing to BoardDocs. “It felt like we were in the stone ages, writing on stone tablets before BoardDocs. Creating and distributing Board packets was an extremely exhausting process,” said Danielle Hillard, Administrative Assistant to the Chancellor, KCCD.
Danielle explained that the actual cost savings is $95,000 to $125,000 annually when board-related staff time is also considered. With BoardDocs, an agenda item can move through an entire approval process in less than a day and any questions are addressed quickly.
Accreditation Process Streamlined
BoardDocs is a helpful tool in the accreditation and auditing process at KCCD. The District links agenda items to their strategic goals and references the various accreditation standards within the content section of each agenda item. All meetings - board to committees - will almost always have a topic that needs to link to an accreditation standard.
“In preparation for an accreditation visit, the search feature in BoardDocs locates the references quickly thereby finding evidence of when specific standards were discussed. This evidence is key to accreditation report-writing and visits. BoardDocs helped with our evidence requirements and the validation is easy because it is searchable,” stated Hillard.

“WOW! I have a tool that helps with agenda management, and it also houses our policies, strategic goals and library information, such as newsletters and archived meeting minutes. I no longer have to search three or four platforms to find what I need. It is all in BoardDocs,” explained Hillard. All are easily shared with board members and the public.
Customer Service is a Dream
Danielle explained that the BoardDocs customer service is something you can only dream about. She personally
experienced this one morning at 2:00 a.m. while at a conference. She called customer support and someone answered the phone on the second ring and was able to answer her question immediately. “BoardDocs’ support is literally available 24 x 7 and the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and customer-oriented.
